Sticky Fingers @ Columbia, South Carolina, United States

Okay readers, is time for overseas post!!! One of the makankings is in US. It is quite hard to get some good pork ribs in Malaysia, as you know most of the restaurant in Malaysia is Halal, therefore they don’t serve pork. The first thing I did in US is to look for a good BBQ ribs restaurant. After I checked in to my hotel, I take some advice from the receptionist on BBQ ribs restaurant. She introduced the “Stickey Fingers” which is a couple of miles away from the hotel. I was also offered a coupon from the hotel where I can get half dozen (6 pcs) of their famous Hickery-Smoked Wings for free.

Sticky Fingers are known for their authentic Memphis style ribs and barbecue in the South. Sticky Fingers is a food chain and they have their restaurant in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and the most in South Carolina which is the place that I am in now. Sticky Fingers is famous for their hickory smoked ribs, wings and the five signature BBQ sauces.

When I first walked into the restaurant, there are lots of people having their dinner. I was asked for smoking preferences and after that they showed me to the table. Not all restaurants here have smoking area for smokers. A waiter come over and introduces himself and asked me is it my first time here. Yup, this is my first time, and then he brings over a sampler of ribs without any sauce and let me try on all the five sauces before I make my order.

After tried with all the different sauces, I ordered the Carolina Sweet. This BBQ sauces is sweeten with honey. The half slab of the ribs is USD 13.99 and by adding another USD 5.00, you will get a full slab. Of course, I ordered a full slab since they tasted so goooooddd……… I also handed over the coupon that I get earlier from the hotel receptionist.

The first thing served on to the table was the half dozen of Hickory Smoke Wings. It came with dips and the dip on the right was very good (blue cheese). The wings are crispy at the outside and very juicy in the inside. It was so delicious and if I didn’t order a full slab, I might consider ordering another portion of the wings. The wings are different from the Buffalo wings at Hooters and Wong Ah Wah chicken wings in Jalan Alor. The wings served here had their own style and believe me, you will love it.

As soon as I finish eating the wings, the main course is served, Full Slab of Carolina Sweet Memphis Style Ribs. According to the waiter their ribs are smoked daily over aged Hickory wood before they BBQ it. That is why they are special and delicious. The meats are just so tender and juicy, you can feel the sweet honey and BBQ sauce on the ribs. The full slab is a very huge portion, as you can see from the picture, the ribs can’t really fit into the plate. So you can imagine how big portion it is. But I finished them all, because they were just too good. I think it took me around 30 minutes to finish them, I am going to do it again before I leave this place…….. hehehe

The total bill including tips cost me USD 27.00, it is on the expensive side but to me it is worth every single penny. Overall, I would say it was a very good and delicious ribs dinner.

Makan Kings’ rating: 8.5/10

Why din you get the sampler platter that gives you ribs in 3 different sauces? Our favourite is the Tennessee Whiskey one! :)

If you ever go to NY area, you have to try Dinosaur BBQ! Really something man! They only have 3 restaurants in NY state though.

Eh, actually not hard to make your own ribs. I make them at home (here in US lah). Season 1 slab of ribs with salt and pepper and roast in an oven at 350F for about 2 to 2 1/2hours before brushing on the BBQ sauce and roasting it again for 1/2 hour more. Problem is most Malaysian home dun have oven!
