Marmalade Cafe @ Bangsar Village II

Was on leave on a Friday, so decided to pay my good friend Ruby a visit. After going around Mid Valley ogling at the Tag Heuer Carrera, we ended up in Bangsar Village II. Since I've heard quite good things about Marmalade Cafe, decided to give it a try.

Started off with some drinks. Ruby ordered the chocolate milkshake (as he always does). Didn't get to try this but judging by the loud slurps, must have been at least half good!

I as usual ordered the lime juice. Super sour, super cold and super refreshing. I cant really take sour drinks as my jaw will ache a little but I cant resist!!

Since it was only tea time, some light eating would be good. I ordered the smoked salmon on whole wheat bread. Must say that this is a very well made sandwich. The veges used were crisp and cold and the smoked salmon was pretty good as well. I must say though, the side of salad looked a bit wilted but the balsamic vinegar dressing was quite good.

Ruby ordered the chicken tandoori (cant remember exactly but he'll comment and tell us) on ciabatta. I stole some of the filling and it was quite good. Doesnt have a very strong spicy taste but quite tasty nevertheless. Again, I'm sure he'll comment and tell us.

Overall a pretty enjoyable meal. Not cheap (but who sells cheap sandwiches nowadays right?) but it was decent. Also nice to catch up with an old friend.

Makan Kings's ratings = 6 out of 10

Cheers,

I remember the sandwich tasting a little bland. The meat was cooked properly, and was of the right tenderness, but as BKT King said, they should add more spices and flavours. The salad was not fresh at all. And I could tell that the chocolate milkshake was basically some cheap vanilla ice-cream and Cadbury chocolate drink powder, with some ice and milk. I remember having a much better chocolate milkshake at Rasta TTDI.

I was in Marmalade two weeks ago. The quiche was amazing but the service was very spotty. My friend was served in 20 mins but my meal took 30 min to arrive. Not well organised.

I'm looking to interview people for a food article and wondered if you would give me a short telephone interview. If interested, could you email me at
ellenwhyte AT lepak.com and I'll tell you more about it?
