On Location!!! - Kuching
Kuching is super HOT!! Think that the sun is closer here! Decided to have some ice cold refreshments to cool down. Went to this hawker centre in Hui Sing. There is a stall there operated by this husband and wife team. Must say that they are quite elderly but are very friendly and happy to recommend one of their many shaved ice drinks!
The picture above is something called special. This has in it amongs other things, red bean, colourfull jelly strips, cendol, cincau, longans, etc etc. It is topped off with shaved ice, evaporated milk and splash of red syrup. Taste like any other ice kacang but what is noteworthy is the portion!! It was served in this huge metal bowl!! Very nice on a hot day like today.
Now, this picture above is something special. It is called matterhorn (not sure of the spelling). This one consists of lemon slices, cincau, colourfull jelly strips, cendol and logans. Topped off with shaved ice and clear syrup. This one is wonderfully refreshing. Nice blend of sweet from the syrup and sour from the lemon slices. Also served in the humungous metal bowl. Very sure you can't get this in West Malaysia (let us know if you can).
This stall also has other shaved ice drinks with weird names such as killer bee, white lady etc etc. Will visit this stall again to try all of them!
Makan Kings ratings = 6 out of 10

did you find the chicas? You better be looking if you haven't yet
Makan kings, Hui Sing hawker stalls have many nice one. I forgot the name already, but there is this one drink stall to the right side that beside a stall that selling kuey tiaw and beehoon... is my favorite stall for drink. They also got "White Lady", "一点紅", "blackwidow". The Jagung Peng also very nice. Did you try Tomato Sauce Noodle or Kuey Tiaw? Must try when you in Kuching. ^_^
fish fish,
The stall was operated by an elderly couple. If not mistaken the guy's name is Ah Meng. Friendly guy. It was stall near the corner. In the middle of a stall selling fried noodles and a stall selling kuihs and paus.

Ah Meng is not my favorite drink stall. Personal preference though. I think the other guy one taste better. He uses glass for the white lady and yi dian hong instead of bowl. ^_^
fish fish,
Ah! It must be the one at the other end there. Only noticed 2 stall selling drinks. Next time must sit in the middle. So can order drinks from both sides so can compare!

how can u give the matterhorn a 6?!?!?!?
anonymous,
What do you think it should get then? Is our ratings too high? Or is it too low?
Cheers,
