Singapore - Soup Restaurant

One of the best discoveries we made in Singapore (also maybe one of the worst, but that is another story) was found by mistake. We were in Paragon and had actually wanted to eat @ Din Tai Fung. After finding out the truth! (as I said, another story) we moved on to the restaurant next to it.

The restaurant seems to specialize in chinese herbal soups. They have many to choose from in the menu and as a soup lover, I just had to try!

The soup we ordered was the black chicken, mushroom and dried scallop soup. Doesn't look particularly special but the soup was delicious!! Just the right amount of herbal taste with hints of flavor from the dried scallops and shredded ginger. Very good!!

The next dish to arrive is the steamed minced pork with salted egg. The mince pork came with some thinnish black sauce and had a salted egg yolk in the middle. I thought that it would be very salty, what with the black sauce and salted egg yolk but it turned out to be just nice. I would call this comfort food, very well made comfort food!!!

The last dish to arrive was the star of the day!! It was steamed chicken (like hainanese chicken rice). Half a chicken deboned and chopped up served with a delicious ginger dipping sauce, slices of cucumber and lettuce leaves to wrap everything up. The chicken was super smooth, not tough in any way. You would need to try it to believe!!!

Imagine the best steamed chicken you have eaten, I'm sure this is better!!! Do not miss the chance to try this out when visiting Singapore. It is well worth queue up for, although we did not as there were not many people around @ the time.

Makan Kings's ratings - 8.5 out of 10

Hi, I am leaving a comment here because I can't find your email contact.

I had created a food search site called Malaysia Most Wanted Food (http://food.malaysiamostwanted.com/), archiving mostly food reviews from blogger. It basically allows easy searching of yummy food around Malaysia. So I am wondering if you are interested to allow me to link to the food reviews in your blog (I shall respect the copyright of your content).

Do contact me at info [at] malaysiamostwanted (dot) com. I could provide you with more information on how this is actually done. BTW, my name is Desmond.

ruby - Busy la bro. But thanks for your continued support!

bayi - The restaurant's name is "Soup Restaurant"

jackson - Not sure about the Taipei branch, but I do agree with anonymous about the Singapore branch. Maybe they're too famous to care about quality anymore?

henry leong - The steam chicken variety is GOOD!~ I have to say that yes, chicken rice is super famous and popular in Singapore but when we tried the uber famous Chatterbox one in Meritus hotel, it was a disappointment. Maybe we were building up to it too much.
