On Location!!! - Kuching - Kueh Chap @ Poh Kwong Park
Went out today to sample another Kuching staple. Kueh Chap. This is flat noodles served in a herbly soup (not unlike bak kut teh) with tauhu pok, and all sorts of pork meat and innards. YUMZ!! Have no idea where in Poh Kwong park this stall is in but its behind some shop houses, in front of some residential houses. Quite a quiet area.
Picture above is the Kueh Chap. The soup is a herbly soup not unlike Bak Kut Teh. The difference is quite hard to explain but when you sample it yourself you'll know. It is served with tauhu pok, lean pork, fatty pork, intestines, stomach, ear, skin and sometimes hard boiled egg. It is taste very good. The kueh (explained below) was smooth and the soup hot and flavourfull. A good dish to have for breakfast or supper.
The picture above is the kueh. Its basically has the same taste and texture of kueh tiaw but its the shape that differs. This is more like sheets unlike the kueh tiaw which are long. The kueh chap here is definately good and according to locals is one of the best in Kuching.

Hmm .... look tasty, but i never tried any Kueh Chap like this (using tauhu pok and pork). In Penang and Thailand, the kuey Chap is different from the one u post, the main different is here uses duck meat and duck base soup. Taste nice also, If u have chance try it
penang kia,
Hmm, guess that the kueh chap will have the gamey flavour of duck then. It will be different taste!
Speaking of Thailand, some of the Makan Kings are in Thailand. Will have some post on food in Thailand soon.
